Role of Parents and Guardians

Parents and guardians have an important and crucial role to fan the spark of curiosity that all children have in the world around them, encouraging them to ask questions and seek answers to what they see. They provide experiences that expose their children to science, technology, engineering, and math exploration and problem solving.

Parents and guardians notice their child’s interest and curiosity in science, technology, engineering, or math, and provide opportunities for their child to pursue those interests through STEM oriented projects at home. They encourage and support their child’s participation in their local school’s STEM Fair. Parents advocate for STEM Fairs at the school level if their school is not yet participating in CPS SSF Inc. sponsored activities. Importantly, parents and guardians support their child’s efforts in planning, creating, and exhibiting their STEM projects.
